Great Antiseptic & Treatment for Dermacological Problems

This is works great as an all round antiseptic and to treat any kind of skin problem like staph infection, hot spots, superficial wounds etc.
I have a 14 year old Samoyed who because of weekly hydrotherapy was developing skin problems. I bath him after every session with 4% Chlorhexidine shampoo to prevent staph infections and then have to dry him completely to the skin-- a time consuming job! However, the Chlorhexidine 2x (4%) Spray allows me to treat any skin problems between baths w/o having to bathe him. What I love about it is that it is not harsh like alcohol or other antiseptics-- it does not sting. 4% Chlorhexidine Gluconate is the same active ingredient in Cibiclens, what is used for surgical scrub on people. I have use this spray successfully on my dog for minor cuts and abrasions, hot spots, staph infection flareups, ruptured sebaceous cysts. I will apply 1-3 times daily depending on the severity and will usually see a significant improvement within 2-3 days. With hot spots I will also apply 'Bag Balm' a heavy vaseline like moisturizer over it. I even use it on my hands and arms when I get cuts & scrapes doing yardwork. Pet Wish Pros is the only place I've seen it available and I hope they will always offer it. Great Product at reasonable price.
FYI- Do not allow product to freeze,
*Do not get in Eyes-will destroy retina
*Do not get on Nose or Ears- harmful to mucous membrane and can cause lost of smell (very important to dogs)

Forgot to include this in my original posting.
If left on for 10 minutes the Chlorhexidine will penetrate the skin giving an extended antibacterial effect for 2-3 hours after application. So if you can keep your pet from licking it you will have added benefit.
Also, it is not harmful if your dog does lick a little of it. Human Dentist use a 1.2% rinse solution of this when doing procedures and you will often see it included in dental care products for dogs. I have a friend who is a dental hygienist (people) who uses 1% of her 2 dogs.
The way it works has to do with the negative and positive ion charges of the bacterial membrane and the Chlorhexidine resulting in the disrupting of the bacterial membrane.
