This aqueous solution is designed for topical use on horses and dogs to clean superficial cuts, abrasions and insect stings. The 2% chlorhexidine gluconate formula targets both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria on the skin surface. Application involves rinsing the affected area with the solution, then wiping away excess and patting the area dry with a sterile gauze or sponge. For broader use, the solution can be diluted at a rate of 1 ounce per gallon of clean water. The formula continues to act on the treated area for a period after application, and its performance is not diminished by the presence of blood, pus or soap residue.
