This perch is molded from durable plastic with a natural sand texture built into the material rather than sprayed on the surface, giving birds a rough, grippy place to stand. The shape is wider at the base and tapers to a more slender tip, offering different grip widths along its length so a bird's foot muscles get varied exercise as it moves between perching spots. The tapered profile also encourages birds to perch toward the middle or end of the perch rather than right against the cage bars, which helps keep debris and droppings contained within the cage. Installation is done by attaching the perch to a horizontal or vertical section of cage wire using the included hardware, so no additional tools are typically needed. Each perch ships in an assorted color and is intended to be mounted permanently as a fixture within the cage rather than used as a handheld toy. Owners should periodically check the mounting hardware and the condition of the sand coating and replace the perch once wear becomes noticeable.
