Reef Crystals is a dry salt blend designed to be mixed with dechlorinated tap or purified water to create marine aquarium water for reef tanks. The formula is enriched with extra calcium, trace elements and vitamins intended to support stony coral skeletal growth, coralline algae, anemones and other invertebrates kept in a captive reef environment. A built-in metal detoxifier is included to neutralize traces of heavy metals often present in domestic tap water. The mix is intended to dissolve quickly when stirred, and the resulting saltwater should be aerated before use and checked with a hydrometer or refractometer against a target specific gravity range. It is used both for filling a new marine aquarium and for routine partial water changes on an established reef tank. The product is packaged dry and requires no assembly, only measuring and mixing before it is added to a tank.
