Safe-Guard Multi-Species Medicated Dewormer is a pelleted feed-through product built around dehydrated alfalfa meal, roughage products, calcium carbonate, and mineral oil, with fenbendazole as the active drug ingredient. It is labeled for beef and dairy cattle, horses, swine, sheep, growing turkeys, and zoo or wildlife animals, delivering 2.27 mg of fenbendazole per pound of body weight when fed according to species-specific label directions. The pellets are top-dressed onto or mixed into the normal daily ration and fed for a single day to achieve the full labeled dose; no prior withdrawal of feed or water is required before treatment. Bunk space should allow all animals in a group to eat at the same time so each one consumes a full, accurate dose based on current body weight. Under continued exposure to parasites, retreatment on a later date may be needed per the species-specific interval on the label. The product is not labeled for use in beef calves under two months of age, dairy calves, or veal calves, and treated cattle carry a defined pre-slaughter meat withdrawal period.
