Vetericyn Super 7 Ultra Navel Care is a liquid navel-care solution built around sodium hydroxide and electrolyzed alkaline water, with isopropyl alcohol, sodium bicarbonate, and a dye included in the formula. It is intended for use on the umbilical cords of newborn cattle, horses, goats, sheep, and pigs immediately following birth. The bottle is shaken before each use and the solution is applied to the navel and umbilical cord while it is still wet, either by spraying the area or by using a dip cup to submerge the cord. If the cord is soiled with manure, urine, or dirt, the area is cleaned with a separate portion of solution before the clean cord is treated. In more challenging birthing environments, a second application roughly 12 hours later can help continue the dry-out process. Handlers are advised to wear gloves and splash-proof goggles during application, and the product is intended for external use only.
