This diet combines wholesome grains, seeds, pellets, and vegetable pieces such as millet, wheat, sunflower seeds, milo, oats, corn, and alfalfa into a single foraging-style mix. The blend is fortified with vitamins, chelated minerals, probiotics, and omega fatty acids to round out the nutrition hamsters and gerbils need beyond what a plain seed mix provides. Peanuts and peas add extra protein variety, while the mix of textures encourages natural foraging and chewing behavior. The food should be offered freely in a heavy dish that resists tipping and digging. Fresh feed should be provided daily, and clean water should be available to the animal at all times. No assembly or preparation is required before feeding.
