Chemgon Waste Disposal Treatment is supplied as a sealed container that doubles as both the mixing vessel and the final disposal container for spent X-ray, photo processing, and graphic arts chemistry. Equal parts of spent fixer and developer, or stabilizer and activator, are poured directly into the jug, either straight from a tray or as overflow from a processor. A proprietary resin inside reacts with the chemistry, encapsulating and binding the silver content as the mixture solidifies into a sponge-like solid. Because the container can be filled gradually, no separate staging tanks or interim storage are required before treatment. Once the container is full and the contents have solidified, the lid is tightened and the solid waste can be discarded with regular trash. Testing based on the Toxicity Characteristic Leaching Procedure shows treated waste falls below the silver thresholds set by the EPA for hazardous waste. No assembly is required before use.
