The recipe draws on ingredients such as wheat germ meal, dehulled soybean meal, oat meal, and algae meal, together with a proprietary vitamin and nutrient blend. Wafers sink quickly to the bottom of the tank, where plecostomus, catfish, and other algae-grazing species naturally feed, and they hold together in water instead of dissolving into a cloud. The food functions as a complete diet for herbivorous bottom feeders and can also serve as a vegetable supplement for other bottom-dwelling fish and algae-eating snails. Packaging is a stand-up, resealable pouch that helps keep unused wafers fresh between feedings. Only the amount of food that fish will consume within a few hours should be offered at each feeding to limit leftover waste in the tank.
