Wonder Dust Wound Powder is a dry topical formula built around hydrated lime, copper sulfate, potassium alum, sulfur, iodoform, tannic acid, and activated charcoal. It is designed for surface wounds, open cuts, abrasions, capillary bleeding, and excessive granulated tissue, commonly called proud flesh, on horses and valuable show stock. The same powder can also be dusted on other livestock as a blood-stop aid following routine procedures such as castrating, docking, or dehorning. A built-in deodorant component helps reduce objectionable odors associated with foul or infected wounds. The powder ships in a squeeze bottle fitted with a puffer-style nozzle that disperses an even layer over the wound surface without direct contact. It can be applied with or without a bandage and reapplied as often as needed, though it is not intended for wounds that will be sutured. Shaking the bottle before each use helps keep the powder flowing freely through the nozzle.
