This algae scraper features an 18-inch handle that lets aquarium keepers reach into the tank while keeping their hands dry. A scrubbing pad addresses everyday algae film while a rigid scraper tip lifts more stubborn buildup from tank walls. The tool is a single hand-held unit that requires no batteries or assembly and is ready to use out of its packaging. Two versions are offered, each matched to a specific tank wall material so the cleaning surfaces do not mar the tank. Before each use, the pad should be rinsed with tap water, and it should never be used on a dry surface. If aquarium gravel becomes lodged on the pad, it should be rinsed off before scraping resumes to prevent scratches. Pressure hard enough to scratch or crack the tank wall should be avoided during cleaning.
