Aqueon Pure delivers live nitrifying bacteria and waste-digesting enzymes inside small gel spheres designed for freshwater aquariums. Once added to the tank, the bacteria colonize surfaces such as filter media, decor and gravel, where they convert ammonia and nitrite into less harmful compounds as part of the nitrogen cycle. The gel ball format uses a time-release design, so bacteria remain available until conditions call for them rather than being active all at once. Each pack contains individually dosed gel balls meant to be added directly to the water on a weekly schedule. The spheres gradually disappear to the eye once introduced, and any small residue left behind can be cleared out during routine water changes. This supplement is intended as an ongoing maintenance aid and does not take the place of regular water changes.
