These castrating bands are small latex rings made for use with a separate castrating band applicator, also called an elastrator or bander. The applicator stretches the band so it can be placed around the scrotum or tail, after which the band stays in place and restricts blood flow to the tissue below it. This elastration method is a bloodless alternative to surgical castration and is commonly used on young calves, lambs, and kids. Each bag contains 100 bands by weight, made of latex valued for its pressure retention and elasticity. The bands should be stored in a cool, dark place out of direct sunlight to help preserve their elasticity and holding strength over time. An applicator tool, sold separately, is required to stretch and place the bands.
