Eazi-Breed CIDR Sheep Insert is a T-shaped device made of molded silicone rubber over a flexible nylon spine, with an attached nylon tail for later removal. Each insert contains progesterone that is released at a controlled rate into the bloodstream once placed intravaginally in a ewe. The product is intended to induce estrus in ewes during seasonal anestrus, when regular estrous cycles are not occurring outside the natural breeding season. A single insert is placed per ewe using an applicator and left in place for the labeled treatment period before removal, after which flock breeding procedures are used to breed ewes at the induced estrus. The pack contains 20 single-use inserts, and each used insert still contains residual progesterone and must be collected in a sealable container and disposed of according to local, state and federal regulations. Gloves are recommended when handling inserts to avoid skin contact with the hormone.
