This wafer diet is built around a high proportion of plant-based ingredients that bottom-dwelling algae eaters naturally seek out, balanced with protein to support normal growth and condition. Each wafer is pressed into a flat disc that sinks quickly and holds its shape on the substrate, so slower or less aggressive fish have time to graze without the food breaking apart or clouding the water. The formula draws on cultured algae sources for added nutrition and is suited to plecostomus, other catfish, and additional bottom feeders, as well as marine herbivorous species. Wafers can be broken into smaller pieces for smaller fish or fed whole for larger plecos. Uneaten portions should be removed from the tank after each feeding to keep water quality stable. The recipe is packaged dry and does not require refrigeration, though color can vary slightly between production batches due to the natural ingredients used.
