Hikari Tropical Algae Wafers Mini are disc-shaped sinking wafers built around fish meal, wheat flour, spirulina, chlorella, and alfalfa meal to give plant-preferring species a vegetable-forward diet. The mini size is scaled down from the standard wafer to suit smaller-mouthed grazers such as dwarf plecostomus, otocinclus, snails, and crustaceans, while remaining appropriate for larger algae eaters and marine herbivores. Each disc is pressed to sink quickly and hold its shape for an extended period rather than crumbling apart, which helps limit cloudiness in the water column. The formula includes stabilized vitamin C along with a supplemental vitamin and mineral package intended to support overall condition. Because bottom feeders are often more active after dark, offering the wafers in the evening can improve how readily they are taken. Only the amount fish will finish in a short window should be offered, with any remainder removed from the tank afterward. Slight color variation can occur between production batches due to the level of natural ingredients used, which does not affect the nutritional makeup of the product.
