Knockout Area Treatment Spray is an aerosol can designed for treating household surfaces where fleas and ticks hide and develop, including carpets, rugs, drapes, upholstered furniture and pet bedding. The formula combines fast-acting adulticides with pyriproxyfen, an insect growth regulator that interrupts flea development before eggs and larvae reach the biting adult stage. One can is sized to treat an area of household flooring and furnishings, and the spray is applied by holding the can several feet from the surface and moving it in a sweeping motion. It is intended strictly for environmental use and is not to be applied directly to a cat or dog; a separate flea and tick product labeled for on-pet use should be used alongside it. Before spraying, fish tanks and bowls should be covered and birds removed from the room, and people and animals should stay out of the treated area until it has fully dried. The can should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat, open flame and food, and it should never be punctured or incinerated.
