This paste is a ready-to-use, clay-based insecticide formulated for topical application on the coat of horses and foals. Rather than being sprayed or misted over the whole body, small amounts are placed directly onto areas where biting flies tend to gather, such as around the eyes, withers and legs. Once applied, the paste attaches to the hair and gradually releases its insecticide over a period of weeks, working to both kill and repel flies. It sets on the coat and becomes rain resistant within a couple of hours of application. The tube requires no mixing, measuring or additional equipment beyond the applicator built into the packaging. Because the paste bonds to the hair and cannot be wiped away once applied, timing around grooming for shows or events should be considered. It should not be applied to a wet coat, since the paste will not adhere properly to moisture.
